Creating a new Map
The map hierarchy is a parent-child structure that links maps together. This structure allows maps to build off of each other and decompose high level concepts down to the details.  There are two ways to create a map (1) create a map connected to the hierarchy), (2) create a standalone map not connected to the hierarchy).Â
Creating a new map from a backbone Activity (connected to the hierarchy)
Â
Navigate to the Activity Map page in a Map you would like to be the parent of the new Map. Identify the backbone activity you wish to create into a new map, open the Options (gear icon), and select Make into Story.
Type in the name of the Map. Then click the arrow to create the Map.
To navigate to your newly created map, open the Options (gear icon) to select Information.
Click the arrow icon next to the Map link to open the newly created linked Map.
Note: Creating a Map this way will make the description of the Activity the purpose of the new Map, and the children of the backbone Activity will become the backbone of the newly created Map.
Creating a new map (not connected to the hierarchy)
Navigate to the Maps page and click the + icon in the top left.
A popup will appear. Populate the Name and Purpose (Why) fields then click Add.
