Initiative
Overview
This release allows a new flow to create new Epics and releases from the Initiative.
This can be done with the following steps.
1. Add story map
2. Create a new release
3. Add a second story map
4. Create a new release
5. Repeat as many story maps as required
6. If required combine releases
7. Choose activities from all related story maps of release or combined release/s
8. Create epics.
This has been achieved with the below new features.
Build and view mode
When viewing an initiative by default the icons used to build/edit the initiative will not be visible.
Selecting “Settings“ → “Build mode“ will allow the user to further build out the Initiative. Users can cycle between view and build.
Creating releases from the Initiative
Users can create releases from an Initiative while in the “Add Releases“ popup.
Select “Settings“ → “Add Releases“. In the popup screen select the search and select a Story Map, once selected, type in the Releases field. While typing users will see a option with the postfix of “(NEW)”. If selected this will create a new release in the selected Story Map, with the name being the text the user typed.
Adding an Epic from the Initiative
Users can now add Epics from an Initiative. Within each cross-section between an Activity and a Release group, there is an “Add“ icon. Clicking this icon will open a popup where the user can add an Epic.
In the popup, users will need to select the original release the Epic will go into. This is relevant if a user has clicked the “Add” icon in a release group containing multiple original releases. Then users will need to select either a Who/When/Data/Where or Free text as the epic name. This will be used as the Epic name. From this screen, users can either select existing Explore Items, if some exist already, or create new ones. Existing Explore Items will be shown in a drop-down. If the user doesn’t select an existing Explore Item the text in the field will be used to create a new one.
Moving Epics
Using the drag icon, Epics can be moved between releases. Simply drag and drop An epic from one release into another.
Thing to note
Epics can only be moved in the same column, this means that Epics can only be moved to other releases within the same Activity.
If an Epic is dragged and dropped into a release group, users will be presented with a popup to select the original release the Epic will go into.
Epics can not be moved into a release if the current Epic Activity does not exist in the destination Story Map the destination release is in.
Currently, Epics can not be moved if they have integration links. This restriction will be lifted in a later update.
Epics can’t be moved in or out of Story Maps where the user doesn’t have edit access.
Epics can’t be moved in or out of completed releases.
Viewing story maps
The Story Maps that are in an Initiative can now be more easily viewed either via the Story Maps list icon
Or the goal Icon in the release.
